If Only...

I've just started reading mustard seed versus McWorld by Tom Sine. It is a fascinating set of reflections on the ways the world is changing - particularly through globalization - and an exploration of how the different values of The Gospel might be lived in such a world (Sine is a Christian writer).

However one funny story leapt out at me this morning. Sine was at a conference of Indigenous people in Sydney. One of the participants, an Aboriginal pastor, approached him and said 'We wouldn't have this mess we have in the world today if we Aboriginals had been the ones in the Garden of Eden instead of you guys.' Sine asked what he was talking about. The reply came: 'If we had been the ones in the Garden of Eden instead of you guys, we would have thrown away the fruit, eaten the snake, and we wouldn't have any of these problems we are dealing with today!

Amen to that brother!
